After the success of two of our projects being nominated in no less than 4 separate category’s at the forthcoming Structural Timber Awards, we are delighted to announce the Enterprise Centre at the University of East Anglia has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Use of Timber’ category at this years OffSite Construction Awards.
The awards celebrate the best in precision building design and delivery and reward outstanding examples of prefabrication and factory-based methods, products, systems and disciplines that increasingly strive to develop a sustainable, streamlined and cost-effective way to deliver a better built environment.
The winners will be announced at the NEC, Birmingham, at a ‘Drinks & Nibbles’ Reception on 18 October during UK Construction Week.
‘Goldsmith Street’ Norwich looks set to be one of the largest social housing Passivhaus scheme in the UK to date. The planed 120 units will be a mixture of individual houses, and flats and marks the continuing commitment from Norwich city council to provide low energy social housing.
The design where all houses and flats face south,seeks to provide sunny, light filled homes with very low fuel bills of approximately £150 per year. In the main these properties will be socially rented.
Goldsmith Street will be Cygnum’s 2nd Passivhaus housing scheme for Norwich City Council following on from our successful partnership at Hansard Close . Managing Director John Desmond – ‘This is a great vote of confidence in the hard work we’ve done on Passivhaus projects throughout the UK both in the education and residential sectors. Its also really encouraging to see the forward thinking approach taken by Norwich City Council in adopting the Passivhaus standard. Hopefully many more will follow.’
